Penn Garden Maintenance have been carrying out regular maintenance visits to customers in South Bucks since 2017. Many of our customers had unloved lawns and we would direct them towards the direction of other lawn companies. The market is dominated by franchises and many of our customers were dissatisfied. We took it on ourselves to dedicate a great deal of time and resources to become qualified lawn experts. Combined with the fact that we would be able to watch the results of treatments week after week, we were able to accurately pinpoint which treatments were effective and which were not.
We believe that this sets us out from the rest. By having had the ability to watch the impacts after each treatment we have devised a unique lawn care programme using the best products on the market.
Spring (March – May)
Our Spring lawn treatment is an organic granular fertiliser designed to promote leaf growth. We apply the first weed control treatment of the year combined with our liquid seaweed soil conditioner and root booster to naturally raise the health of the lawn.
Summer (June-August)
Our summer lawn treatment is a summer blend of our granular fertiliser to promote strong growth over the summer. If temperatures are too high we will switch to a liquid fertiliser to not scorch the lawn. We also apply another weed control treatment combined with our liquid seaweed soil conditioner and root booster.
Autumn (September – November)
Our Autumn treatment is specially designed to have a lower Nitrogen level to control the leaf growth but has higher Phosphorus levels to stimulate root growth and development and higher Potassium levels to help protect the lawn against disease. Any weeds are spot treated.
Winter (December – February)
During the Winter we aim to tackle moss growth. Our specially designed mix is sprayed onto the lawn and will blacken and kill the moss whilst strengthening the grass and protecting it against disease. We also add liquid seaweed soil conditioner and root booster.
Winter Boost (February-March)
Providing your lawn had been treated in December we can carry out our Winter boost treatment. This treatment is especially beneficial if a Scarification is due in Spring as the dead moss will be removed after this treatment. We again add liquid seaweed soil conditioner & root booster.
Scarification
Scarifying the lawn removes moss and thatch allowing sunlight and air to get down to the leaf base enabling the grass to grow better. This process is carried out at least once per year, during the Spring and Autumn months. The more often its carried out (maintenance scarifying) the better and faster a lawn will recover.
We scarify for a host of reasons, one of these is to keep thatch levels sensible so that moss spores don’t have a chance to develop.
Aeration
Our hollow-tine aeration pulls cores from the lawn to bring oxygen down to the roots of the grass and to relieve lawn compaction. It increases the water & nutrients absorption to the soil. It will help lawns ability to cope with drought and disease. It is a vital part of the lawn maintenance programme and something which is often overlooked.
